MKA Group, the Malaysian automotive company behind the globally recognised RCB brand, has been officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for producing the first Malaysian-designed handle grip to be used in the MotoGP World Championship.
The recognition follows the successful deployment of the RCB Nagamaki Handle Grip in professional Grand Prix motorcycle racing, including by riders competing in MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3, demonstrating the product’s performance and reliability at the highest level of international motorsport.
Designed and developed entirely in Malaysia by MKA Group’s research and development team, the RCB Nagamaki Handle Grip entered development in December 2020 with a strong focus on rider ergonomics, control, and performance under extreme racing conditions.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional Japanese tsuka (katana handle) and tsukamaki wrapping technique, the grip features a distinctive woven structural pattern engineered to enhance comfort, stability, and control. Its enlarged bump geometry helps reduce vibration, minimise hand fatigue and numbness, improve tactile feedback, and deliver greater grip stability during high-speed riding.
The product’s capabilities were validated through real-world use in MotoGP competition, proving its effectiveness and durability under the demanding conditions of elite motorcycle racing.
“RCB is deeply honoured to receive this recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records. This milestone is not only a proud achievement for our company and the RCB brand, but also for Malaysia’s engineering and manufacturing industry,” said Bruce Lee, Group CEO of MKA Group.
“It demonstrates that Malaysian-designed and Malaysian-engineered products can compete on the global MotoGP stage alongside the very best in the world. This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, performance, and continuous innovation.”
The Malaysia Book of Records recognition highlights RCB’s engineering excellence, innovation capabilities, and contribution to the global motorsports industry. It also reinforces Malaysia’s growing reputation in high-performance automotive technology and advanced manufacturing.
As RCB continues to expand its presence in international racing and aftermarket performance parts markets, this milestone serves as a testament to the potential of Malaysian innovation and engineering to succeed on the world stage.
