Hakim Danish Ramli created the sweetest moment of his career after claiming his maiden Moto3 World Championship podium with a third-place finish at the Italian Grand Prix.

The historic result at Mugello came in dramatic fashion as the AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi rider bounced back from a heavy incident during practice to secure the best finish of his career on the world stage. Hakim Danish was involved in a high-side crash during the practice session, but the Terengganu-born rider showed tremendous fighting spirit to return to action and prove he has what it takes to compete among the front runners.

As a result of the incident, Hakim Danish was forced to begin his weekend through Qualifying 1 (Q1), but handled the pressure brilliantly to progress into Q2 before securing second on the grid. Fortune also played its part when Spanish rider David Almansa was declared unfit to start the race at Mugello, promoting Hakim Danish to pole position.

When the lights went out, Hakim Danish made a strong start to stay with the leading group and went toe-to-toe with some of the world’s best riders throughout the 17-lap contest. The intense Moto3 battle saw his position change several times, with Hakim Danish dropping as far as eighth midway through the race. However, he refused to give up and continued pushing aggressively, picking off riders ahead to work his way back into podium contention.

On the final lap, Hakim Danish timed his move perfectly to break into the top three in the closing stages. He eventually crossed the finish line in third place behind Red Bull KTM Ajo duo Brian Uriarte, who claimed victory, and Alvaro Carpe in second. Even more impressively, the result ended Malaysia’s decade-long wait for another Moto3 podium, with the last coming when Khairul Idham Pawi delivered his memorable victory at the German Grand Prix in 2016.

The additional 16 points from Mugello lift Hakim Danish to 11th in the overall championship standings with 43 points after seven rounds, further strengthening his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in this season’s Moto3 World Championship.
