Hakim Danish’s Historic Moto3 Podium at the Italian Grand Prix

The AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSi rider bounced back from a heavy incident in practice to take the best finish of his career on the world stage. The Terengganu-born rider showed tremendous fighting spirit to return to action and prove he can compete among the front runners.

From a Practice Crash to Pole Position

Hakim Danish was involved in a high-side crash during practice, which forced him to start his weekend in Qualifying 1 (Q1). He handled the pressure to progress into Q2 and secured second on the grid. Spanish rider David Almansa was then declared unfit to start the race, which promoted Hakim Danish to pole position.

Fighting Back from Eighth to Third

When the lights went out, Hakim Danish made a strong start to stay with the leading group, and went toe-to-toe with some of the world’s best riders over the 17-lap race. His position changed several times, and he dropped as far as eighth midway through. He refused to give up, pushing hard and picking off riders ahead to work his way back into podium contention.

On the final lap, he timed his move perfectly to break into the top three. He crossed the line in third behind Red Bull KTM Ajo duo Brian Uriarte, who won, and Alvaro Carpe, who finished second.

Malaysia’s First Moto3 Podium Since 2016

The result ended Malaysia’s decade-long wait for another Moto3 podium. The last came when Khairul Idham Pawi won the German Grand Prix in 2016.

Championship Standings After Seven Rounds

The 16 points from Mugello lift Hakim Danish to 11th in the overall standings with 43 points after seven rounds. It further strengthens his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in this season’s Moto3 World Championship.
